Streetsblog San Francisco has a great short film on how we might address the problem of overautozation (my word) and talks about Park Avenue in NY, as a prime example. Did you know there actually used to be a park, and not Central Park. The suggestions are pretty intuitive, really, street closures, gatherings like block parties, etc. but they do a good job with presentation. So, even if it's preaching to the choir, check it out.
"Fixing the Great Mistake" is a new Streetfilms series that examines what went wrong in the early part of the 20th century, when our cities began catering to the automobile, and how those decisions continue to affect our lives today.
